LLC “SPAN SCAN” was established in 2019 by people from Ural Federal University. Attracting private and public investments, over the past year the company has conducted in-depth research and development in the field of reverse engineering process automation and generation of measurement programs for non-contact geometry control systems.

The purpose of the project – automation of the most routine, but at the same time one of the most important procedures in contactless three-dimensional scanning – selection of a trajectory of movement of the scanner concerning object, and also allocation of geometrical primitive things from the scanned cloud of points. Within the limits of the project the software for automation of process of programming of moving of system of scanning on CAD model and allocation of geometrical primitive things is developed. The basic “know-how” of the project – algorithms of generation of a trajectory of the scanner moving concerning object on CAD model, division of CAD model into geometrical primitive things and search of primitive things corresponding to them in the scanned cloud of points. This allows you to dramatically reduce the time spent on scanning details of any shape, as well as minimize the human factor. Distinctive feature of the project products from competing solutions is high adaptability of the software, which is provided by a flexible database of images and algorithms. The business model is based on the sale of licenses for software modules for use by companies producing coordinate measuring equipment and end customers – industrial enterprises.

The company’s software is used by integrators of 3D scanning and geometry control systems. The company also acts as an integrator of its own solutions.
